let’s do ittttttt
in related news: I can do a killer british accent if and only if i’m singing along to the Wombats.
appreciation
Sometimes you just have to be thankful for great days. Today will probably be one of them. Why?
- Sleeping in
- Blasting my new Wombats album in an empty apartment, which brings memories of Fibbers. (if this is a rom-com, kill the director? brilliant).
- Young Adult lit shopping with K in Union Square
- Angelina Jolie + James McCavoy + H
- Expensive dinner I don’t have to pay for...

Listen Up, Fellow Obama Lovers: →
This is probably as good as its going to get for a looong time, so I would suggest that we all pause and relish this feeling. At the moment, Obama holds a 15 point lead over McCain, according to the latest Bloomberg poll, and he polls ahead of McCain in all but one of the major issues in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll. Awesome, right? Go ahead, relish—it’s all about to take a turn for the...

I saw the Sex and the City movie for the second time today (my dad wanted to see it, cmon) and found it a lot less painful in terms of the bad directing and bad writing the second time around. I still cried like a baby during the love letter emails. I still wanted to puke at the first and last lines of the movie. I still obsessed over Carrie’s jacket in the second to last scene (they...

Signs that for the past six months, I’ve been tumblring at an exceedingly superior frequency than writing anything academic: I just typed a sentence in which I quoted some author quoting Marx and it went,
“Men make their history but they do not know they are making it,” Marx via F. Braudel.
EU Lifts Cuba Sanctions →
“EU foreign ministers at the summit approved a set of conditions to be imposed on Cuba in return for sanction-free relations. They include the release of all political prisoners; access for Cubans to the Internet; and a double-track approach for all EU delegations arriving in Cuba allowing them to meet both opposition figures and members of the Cuban government.”

I took a nap in the butler cafe today (as per tradition in the middle of paper writing chaos) and I had one of those awful wake-up moments when you think you’ve overslept and missed something really important.
The cause of my momentary worry? The Sigur Ros ticket pre-sale that’s at 9am tomorrow morning.

Planned Parenthood launched its ”kNOw McCain’’ campaign this week, designed to spread awareness about the Republican candidate’s abysmal voting record against women’s health and reproductive rights. The plan is already working—I’m amazed at how much I hadn’t realized about what a possible McCain presidency would mean for the future of American women, and...

Sometimes I surprise myself
Today I became momentarily obsessed with getting a Kindle.
I’m over it, but still, it was a very powerful feeling. After the immense amount of pain and despair that was the ordeal of bringing all my heavy books home from York, the idea of having all of them in one hand-held device sounds maaaarvelous.
I’m ridiculously excited for Woody Allen, Spain style. It’s like I’ve been waiting for this for forever and didn’t even know it.
ok, stop. historiography awaits.

no more gross mall! (although its balcony did have good views of the bridge). but a 42 story building right on the edge of the water? hrmmm
THIS IS BULLSHIT. I am not exaggerating when I say that the very shitty waterfront mall is where my FAVORITE spot in New York is, the lounge chairs and the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the breeze and the river, all outside of the shitty food...
