Eventually he tied his shoelace at a streetcorner and pretended not to have noticed but I could TELL he was looking for us. Bloggers: you can just yell “I read your blog” and anyone will think you’re talking about them especially if they write for Gawker. Happy new decade!

Either that, or Adventureland
The movies I liked most this year got no cred. Adventureland was marketed wrong! Very few people got to realize it was awesome! Then again, we all remember (actually, I had forgotten until right now) when The Wackness got snubbed and I wrote about it on Flavorwire. Sigh.

[Any variation on an answer is valid. Kind of like “the way you choose to answer the question IS the answer itself” ish. I’m working on an end of decade piece, and I’d love to see what you all think about about the problematic nature of the “hipster” label. I’ve never tried this crowdsourcing thing, but Tumblr seems like the right place to start for this...

Must watch!
The first time Howard Zinn’s now-classic book “A People’s History of the United States” appeared on TV was in “The Sopranos” on HBO, when Tony’s teenage son A.J. came home from school with a copy of the book and told his parents that, according to Zinn, Columbus was a slaveowner and murderer. Tony got mad, and replied, “In this house Columbus is a...

Writes Charles Pierce, journalist, on a guest post for Eric Alterman’s blog at The Nation: I have been fortunate enough to spend most of my career writing for magazines.
