The great thing about book release parties is the free wine. The awkward thing about book release parties is when you have to explain to the author that you can’t afford his book yet because you didn’t cash your paycheck because you were so nervous about going somewhere with a bunch of strangers that you sat around and drank the leftover beer in your fridge instead of going to the bank.
